I'M A SELF CONFESSED BIRTH NERD
(BA Hons Midwifery & KGHDip Hypnobirthing)
Hello, I'm Steph! I’m the founder of Birth Nerd, mum to Lucas, Isaac and Oliver and married to my wonderful and very patient husband Rory. We live in Shrewsbury, and exploring the beauty of the Shropshire countryside is one of our favourite things to do together.
Birth Nerd was born out of my love and passion for supporting mums, parents and families from my experience as a midwife. I want to make high quality support for women more accessible – both by supporting women themselves with my hypnobirthing and antenatal service and through friendly nurturing mummy meetups with Shropshire Mamas.
To go back to the very beginning, my love for all things birthing came long before I started my midwifery degree. I have a strong family history of midwives and nurses.
From a very young age, I remember thinking "Wow, a woman's body can do that!!". My passion for 'birth' was ignited and it has only grown stronger.
Throughout my time as a midwife, I learnt and witnessed that women who had a solid understanding of their birthing body during pregnancy and labour, who knew their choices, who had learnt techniques for how labour usually works and consolidated it all, went onto have a powerful positive birthing experience.
I’m an experienced certified Katharine Graves hypnobirthing teacher and Yes Mum Birth Project affiliated teacher. This, combined with the experience and skills acquired during my time as a midwife, has given me a solid understanding of the birthing process and the maternity system. I know exactly what it takes to help you on your own positive birth journey.
I can’t thank Steph enough for everything, not only is she great at what she does, but she also has a background in midwifery, she is relatable because she has 3 beautiful children herself and best of all she’s one of the nicest people you’ll meet.
